Dr. John Mason
Dr. John Mason has worked with many emergency personnel through group trainings in fire and police departments to medical referrals for individual: police/sheriffs, fire, emergency medical, correctional, and even secret service personnel. PTSD, pain management, anxiety, depression, alcohol abuse control, insomnia, and stress management are the most frequent referrals.
Dr. Mason has authored two popular books on stress management - Guide to Stress Reduction and Stress Passages: Surviving Life's Transitions Gracefully. Dr. Mason is trained in the fields of hypnosis, NLP, communication, team building, time management, psychophysiology, hospice counseling, chronic pain management, panic/anxiety control, desensitization, prenatal wellness, weight management, and behavioral techniques for controlling substance abuse. He has created targeted trainings for fire and police personnel, crisis line counselors, and trainers in stress management, health/wellness, communication, and enhancing performance. In 1977, Dr. Mason started his private practice in biofeedback, stress management, hypnosis, and behavioral techniques for managing symptoms of stress. He is the founder Stress Education Center (and Dstress.com) which began serving in 1978.
Dr. Mason received his Ph.D. in Psychology from Paideia University in 1979 for his work in psychophysiology which became the basis for his best selling book, Guide to Stress Reduction. His M.A. and B.A. were both earned in Psychology from Sonoma State University after work in psychology at U.C.L.A. He has been an instructor at Sonoma State University and a trainer for many organizations. His clientele portfolio includes Hewlett Packard/Agilent, Oracle, the American & California Bar Associations, G.E. Financial, State of California, County of Sonoma, City of Santa Rosa, Genencor, and State Compensation Insurance Fund, Sonoma County District Attorney's Department, Sonoma County Sheriffs Department.
