About Us

In 18 years of law enforcement, 15 of which were spent working on the streets of Santa Rosa, I never lost a fight. I credit this to a bit of luck and a hell of a lot of hard core training. I take my conditioning and training very seriously. A typical day for me will consist of hitting the gym at 4:30 am for an intense 1-hour workout focused on muscular endurance, cardio and flexibility training. This is followed by a period of meditation where I calm my mind and visualize myself being successful in all aspects of my life. After this, I will often teach martial arts, run a fitness class or take a private martial arts lesson from my teacher, Kevin Cook, in 8-Fist Kung Fu. Sound extreme? Maybe, but you can damn sure bet it's saved my butt more than once.

My drive for fitness has always been strong. However, recently it has been fueled by a series of serious back injuries. Being a cop took its toll on my health, and ultimately I got to the point where I was forced to retire in February 2005 due to the severity of my injuries. My life is now a constant battle with chronic pain. What helps me manage this in has been my fitness training and mental conditioning. Without these important aspects of my daily routine, the quality of my life would take a tumble. I have had to give up many activities that I used to love to do because of my injuries, but I have never lost the desire to push myself within my limitations. Life is about the triple A's: Adapting, Adjusting and Accepting. Adapting to the changes in my life, understanding and implementing the proper adjustments to carry on and accepting the things that I can not control. My struggle with pain and physical limitations has only served to inspire me to try harder and to never give up.

Testimonials

So, am I advocating you adopt my lifestyle of fitness, nutrition and stress management? Not necessarily, but I am advocating you get off your ass and start doing something to improve your chances of survival. Remember, you have chosen the path of a warrior, so it is up to you to embrace it fully, or suffer the consequences. You are living in denial if you don't think your warrior skills will be challenged at some point in your career or personal life. If you do live in my area you are in luck. If you are a member of a security business, law enforcement agency or the United States Military, I am offering classes that will directly benefit the skills you need to apply force safely and within all legal limits on the street. Real skills not mired in complex movements but in actual form and function tested on the streets. For groups belonging to a city or security firm, I will be happy to complete a needs assessment to determine a specific training system to suit your needs, much as I have done for Korbel and Wal-Mart. I am available for seminars and offer discounts to groups. Contact me anytime for details.

You can also join my Warrior Circle for personal training tips, the latest warrior information, mind blowing workouts, direct access to me for questions and answers and much, much more. Just click here to learn more about the Warrior Circle.
